West Brom reveal four players involved in supposed taxi incident

Toby Lambert, February 17, 2018

Spanish incident

West Brom have released an incident on behalf of four of their senior players after suggestions of a taxi theft whole on a break in Spain.

The Baggies flew out for a mid-season break as the side sit bottom of the Premier League.

Though, what they didn’t expect was for several of their senior players to steal a taxi after a drunken night out abroad.

The three players have now been revealed as Gareth Barry, Jonny Evans, Jake Livermore and Boaz Myhill.

It is certainly unexpected that the most experienced of players would be out of line but they have apologised via the club.

While the nature of the incident is yet to be confirmed, reports suggest that the players broke curfew and stole a taxi to get home.

Whether that turns out to be true or not is yet to be seen.

The statement reads:

We would like to take this opportunity to apologise to our team-mates, the Head Coach, the Club and especially the supporters for the events which have been the subject of widespread and negative publicity.

We felt it important we identify ourselves as the players involved in an incident which occurred during the training camp in Spain this week out of respect for team-mates who otherwise could be implicated by association.

We freely acknowledge and apologise for the break of curfew which we accept represented a breach of the standards of professionalism required of us as representatives of West Bromwich Albion FC.

The Club has informed us that it will now conduct its own inquiry into the incident and we will co-operate fully.

In the meantime, we would like to assure our supporters that this incident does not reflect the determination and resolve we possess to do all we can to recover a difficult season.

Alan Pardew reveals disappointment at West Brom stars who ‘stole taxi’

Safe to say, there wasn’t going to be a big celebration from Alan Pardew when addressing the incident.

He wasn’t happy that’s for sure and he went on to discuss the implications.
