Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha
Will Crystal Palace still be a Premier League side next season?
The Eagles are hovering above the drop zone as they’ve remained knee-deep in the relegation mire from the opening weekend of the season.
Currently Palace are 15th in the league with 27 points from 27 games. Roy Hodgson’s men are just one point above third bottom Southampton.
And this weekend Palace face a tough match-up at Tottenham visit Selhurst Park on Sunday.
Ahead of that game, the Times are reporting on Tuesday that Tottenham are leading the charge to sign Wilfried Zaha this summer. Chelsea are Man City are also in the mix.
Tottenham v Chelsea v Man City
Zaha, of course, has previously left Palace to join a bigger club.
The Ivory Coast international has previously been at Manchester United, however Zaha never made the grade at Old Trafford.
Since returning to his roots in south London, Zaha has again excelled. But will he choose to leave the club this summer, especially if Palace get a huge offer for their best player?
The Times survey the situation as follows:
Tottenham Hotspur are planning a fresh move for Wilfried Zaha and are confident of beating Chelsea to his signature this summer.
Chelsea want to add attacking players and Manchester City also made a tentative inquiry for Zaha last month.
(Zaha) could cost more than £50 million.
So which of the clubs seem best placed to sign Zaha?
Man City could be at the back of the queue. That’s after Zaha’s tough spell previously in Manchester, plus the winger may consider his chances of breaking into the Man City XI.
On the other hand, if Pep Guardiola comes calling, how easy is it to say ‘no’?
As for Chelsea, that move would allow Zaha to remain in London. But who will be in charge of the Blues next season? And, having seen how much game time players like Danny Drinkwater have had this season, would Zaha be keen on a switch to Stamford Bridge?
On Tottenham, they’ve been linked with Zaha for several seasons.
Again the player would be able to stay in London if he may the switch. But Spurs are well-stocked on creative players, while they just signed Lucas Moura from PSG.
