Huddersfield midfielder Aaron Mooy has this afternoon posted a photo to Snapchat, showcasing the damage done to his knee during his side’s matchup with Bournemouth yesterday.
Matchup
The two sides went head to head at the Kirklees stadium in the early Premier League kick-off, with hosts Huddersfield particularly desperate for all 3 points after falling into the English top-flight’s relegation zone.
Bournemouth, meanwhile, headed into the clash full of confidence, having earned victories in their last two Premier League outings, one of which came courtesy of an incredible 3-0 drubbing of champions Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Crucial result
Nevertheless, it was Huddersfield who proved utterly dominant on the day, with goals from Alex Pritchard, Steve Mounie, a Steve Cook own goal and a late penalty from Rajiv van La Parra eventually seeing the Terriers emerge with a hugely impressive 4-1 win.
Crocked
However, there was one major cause for concern on an otherwise perfect day for David Wagner’s men, with star midfielder Aaron Mooy having been forced off 15 minutes from time with a knee injury.
The Australian international played a starring role for the hosts yesterday afternoon, but was left in a heap on the Kirklees turf in the 75th-minute, following a challenge with Steve Cook.
The 27-year-old was eventually stretchered off with a deep laceration to his left knee, with immediate fears regarding the possibility of ligament damage.
Such worries have since been eased, though, with Huddersfield boss David Wagner having confirmed following the clash that ‘he (Mooy) has a cut over his knee. Not ligaments, just a cut. He needs stitches.’
And Mooy has since taken to Snapchat to provide a closer look at the gruesome nature of his injury, after having had the laceration sewn up by club doctors:
