Chris Coleman goes after Sunderland owner Ellis Short
Sunderland manager Chris Coleman has spouted some home truths before Tuesday’s match against Bolton in the Championship.
Sunderland are on the verge of back-to-back relegation seasons which could see them drop from the Premier League to League One.
Such a sequence of events would be disastrous for the Black Cats.
Chris Coleman was a surprise appointed at Sunderland a few months ago, but the former Wales boss seems resigned to what he’s working with at the Stadium of Light.
In his presser before the away game at Bolton, Coleman has called out Sunderland owner Ellis Short. As reported in the Sunderland Echo, Coleman said:
At a club like Sunderland there is incredible passion and a lot of supporters, they need people here who care about the club as much as them. Here lies a problem.
Obviously Ellis wants to sell the club and they recognise that maybe his love for the club was maybe yesterday.
Until that changes, he wants to sell the club, that is common knowledge, until we get someone that wants to turn a corner with, love it and care for it and look after it, hence all the negativity.
Until we have a new owner with new ideas we are where we are.
Bolton vs Sunderland
There’s a massive relegation six pointer when Bolton meet Sunderland.
The Black Cats are second bottom of the division with 26 points from 32 games. Bolton are in 20th, with 30 points on the board. If Sunderland can win on Tuesday night it would give the club a huge boost.
But after three defeats in their last four games, can anyone back Sunderland to win?
Bolton, for the record, have also lost their two matches on the spin.
