World class
Cesc Fabregas has issued Chelsea with a warning about one Barcelona player, and while most people will be worrying about the likes of Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, the Chelsea midfielder thinks someone else is a danger man.
He noted Andres Iniesta is someone who is so good, age simply doesn’t matter, and he thinks that the player will only get better and better as time goes on.
Iniesta is someone who Chelsea fans remember well, after his goal saw them knocked out of the competition back in 2009, and Cesc thinks he’s as good as ever.
Standard Sport report he said: “He’s still good; for this type of player age doesn’t really matter.
“Once you have a talent, once you have the class that he and so many other ‘big’ players have, they can play until their late 30s.
“Physically, it’s important, obviously because the game nowadays depends a lot on that. But when you have the quality, when you have the intelligence, it can sometimes compensate.”
“You’re making him very old! He’s only three years older than me.
“We played with the Spain under-21s together. We’ve played together from when I was 18 years old.
“I never saw him as an ‘idol’ because we always played together. I saw him as a team-mate.
“A person obviously that I admire, but in a different way from an idol I looked up to when I was young.
“I used to look up to Guardiola, because he was playing in my position; I used to love Luis Figo when he was at Barcelona. These two were probably the ones I looked up to most when I was little.
“But this generation of Spanish players, and not only Spanish players, in Barcelona has been fantastic.”
Big game
The game is huge for both sides, and while everyone is focusing on how vital it is for Chelsea, the fact of the matter is, for a club with the reputation of Barcelona, their fans think it’s been too long since they’ve won the Champions League, and seeing Real Madrid do it two times in a row has only reinforced that view.
They want to be the 2018 winners – and know to do that, they will have to get past Chelsea first and foremost.
