Premier League leaders Manchester City have this evening been dealt a huge boost on the injury front, with Gabriel Jesus set to return from a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Crocked
Brazilian striker Jesus has been out of action since suffering medial collateral ligament damage during City’s clash goalless draw with Crystal Palace on New Year’s Eve.
To that point, the 20-year-old had racked up 10 goals and 2 assists across all competitions this season, with Pep Guardiola having opted to rotate between Jesus and Sergio Aguero at centre-forward for the Citizens.
Struggles
Speaking in a recent interview with Manchester City’s official website, Jesus opened up on the difficulties he faced during his time spent on the sidelines:
‘At the beginning, it was hard, but after I got used to the situation, I convinced myself that all I could do was to recover in the best way possible – to come back well.’
‘Of course, in the first few days, it was awful – extremely bad. I was bad. I am thankful that my family were here to help me. They were very important.’
‘It was a bad injury. I know they all are but it could have been worse. I am very thankful to God because despite what happened to me, it wasn’t the worst.’
Return
But, as per an update courtesy of Manchester City‘s official website this evening, Jesus’ injury hell has come to an end, with news that the gifted youngster has returned to training with the rest of his Citizens’ teammates.
The report explains that tonight’s FA Cup clash between the Sky Blues and Wigan has come too soon for Jesus, but the possibility exists that he could return to Pep Guardiola’s City squad for their Carabao Cup final matchup with Arsenal on Sunday.
